The £420 million South Harbour Expansion Project was officially opened in September 2023 and is the largest new marine infrastructure project in the UK.
The new facility provides 1.5km of deep water berths and was constructed to create new opportunities in energy, trade, decarbonisation and tourism.
Fairhurst provided Traffic & Transportation and Infrastructure Engineering services to Aberdeen Harbour Board to facilitate the Development Appraisal, Planning Application and scoping of associated facilities for the development.
Our in-house civil engineering and specialist transportation input were key to the early stages of the project and in particular, demonstrating the capacities of existing and proposed infrastructure.
